Last blog of 2015!! This year has been amazing and I’ve been blessed to do some really cool things with my music. I’m so excited to see what 2016 has to offer.

This last blog is to give you guys some insight and encouragement for this brand new year that is upon us. In Sunday School we’ve been studying the book “Becoming More Than a Good Bible Study Girl” by Lysa Terkeurst. She gives lots of info on how to deal with different situations and how to focus your responses to the things that life throws at you on what would be most pleasing to God. I’ve gotten a lot of things out of this study, but the main point I’ve gotten is this: you are specially “equipped” to handle your life and no one else’s.

We are only human and it’s natural to look at someone that has the things that you’ve longed for your whole life and be envious of that. You might be jealous of someone who makes more money than you, has a bigger house than you, has a talent that you don’t possess, or even someone who carries themselves better than you ever could. Let me tell ya, honey, there will always be someone richer, prettier, better, smarter, bigger, smaller, etc., but EVEREYONE is fighting a battle that you probably have no idea about. Why be jealous when God made you specifically to handle the affairs of YOUR life? Sally might be a movie star and be on the road 365 days a year and Suzie might have wanted that, but you know, God has other plans for Suzie that only Suzie can handle. If Sally were to try to be in Suzie’s spot, she’d fail miserably. Jealousy is a waste of time. People can put up amazing fronts on the outside, but the demons they are facing on the inside would rock your world. God made you special. YOU are living the best life for YOU. However, you do have to make wise decisions along the way, but if you are in touch with the Holy Spirit in making these decisions, you’ll never go wrong.

Music is a long and difficult road, but I know that God is allowing things to go on in my life that I’m equipped at this time to handle. He will never give me a load without the proper bag to carry it in. We all grow every single day. We mature and we are able to handle things now that we would’ve never been able to deal with a year ago. Let this year be your year of growth and don’t get frustrated that what you’re working towards doesn’t happen overnight. God’s timing is perfect and He has a GREAT plan for the rest of your days.

My Sunday School teacher told us that rather than having a long list of resolutions to keep up with, choose one word in which to focus on for the rest of the year and grow yourself in how you respond. I have chosen to focus on being more [gracious]. I hope you guys have a fantastic New Year and many blessings to you!!
